I worked for BBC News for more than 30 years – and spent more than two decades leading teams in television and radio.

My track record includes editing all the main BBC News TV bulletins, presenting (badly!) the late night news on BBC1, helping to launch Breakfast Time (and later Breakfast News) and Radio 5 Live. I was part of the leadership team that took BBC News 24 to market leadership, and its first national awards.

I covered many major news stories in the field: the fall of the Berlin Wall, the release of Nelson Mandela, the Lockerbie and Brighton bombs – and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa!

I taught hundreds of journalists to do their jobs and I recruited many of the faces you now see on BBC News. I set up Simon Waldman Media because I am passionate about sharing some of that experience and knowledge.
